Brain-Body mechanisms in stress and depression: implications for sufferers of pain and physical therapists
Dr Raison's keynote will centre on brain-body mechanisms linking physical and emotional pain and how this is mediated by the immune system. Dr Raison will also discuss how psychological distress impacts pain and social functioning and the implications for physical therapists. In addition to participants exploring how physical therapists can adapt their practice for managing pain in individuals with psychological distress, Dr Raison will introduce participants to the concept of compassion training to mitigate the effects of stress.
